Memorial Day Events

We started our Memorial day with the local parade. The fire department always participates and Terry usually volunteers because Tara likes to ride on the truck. It's kinda hard to see but Tara and Kensey are on top of the truck and Terry is riding on the back. He stands and holds onto a handle.I think the girls are more excited to hang out with each other than to ride on the fire truck.Terry wanted a picture of some of the guys all together. After the parade, we went to a barbecue at Terry's mom and dads. Terry's brother and his family were also there. It was nice to finally sit down with everyone and catch up on things. Its sad to think that we all live relatively close and never take the time to do these things, except on a holiday. This needs to change. Terry and I are talking about having several gatherings this summer after we get the pool up and running again.

After dinner we had to scoot over to my dad's, they had a surprise for Tara. Evey wasn't there when we first arrived so we hung out and the kids decided to feed the horses leaves from an oak tree while we waited.

My kids are so brave. I'm actually a little bit scared of horses ever since I was thrown from one as a teenager. I haven't rode another one since. This horse is a quarter horse. He's the biggest horse that they have (and the scariest, in my opinion).Tara got zapped by the electric fence, twice. She didn't cry though. As a matter of fact, she really didn't realize what happened until Terry explained it to her.

Then Evey arrived. Don't you love her awesome little ride. They drive it all over their property and down to the neighbors. Cam keeps asking me if he can play with it.
Well, guess why she drove down to the neighbors. Because a momma kitty was hit by a car and there are five little orphan babies who need a mommy. She's got them in a pet carrier in the back.
I'm not sure if I have ever seen my kids so excited. They fell in love with these little babies.

Even Cam begged to take one home.

Too bad we already have 3 cats. Tara said we could get rid of Mr. Jynkie. Aawwweee, poor Jynkie. They are willing to ditch him for a new kitty. How rude! The kids patiently watched and waited while Evey fed each one of them some warm goats milk.

After a full belly, each of my kids cuddled up to one of them.

Tara sang hers a lullaby and put him to sleep in her lap.

Even though the babies were a big hit, Tara was pretty excited about her surprise. They got her a horse. He's a 2 year old painter. Isn't he cute.

Tara didn't ride him yet. That will take some time. Evey tells her that she can come hang out anytime she wants and she will teach her everything she needs to know about taking care of him.
Tara was really excited but then she expressed a little disappointment because she couldn't take him home with her. Hmmmm, if we don't have room for a baby kitty then...where would we put a horse? Then she tells us that we need to move.
Tara does have a good point. We are a animal loving family. We are already over our city limit for pets (shhhh, don't tell).
