Story Time

The kids and I were reading books tonight. I always let them each pick one out and tonight they let me pick one out. I always pick the same one. My favorite kids book is "Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge" written by Mem Fox, Illustrated by Julie Vivas. I looove this book. Anyways, its about a little boy who lives next to an old peoples home. He has a special relationship with each one of them but has an extra special relationship with Miss Nancy Alison Delacourt because she had four names like him. Wilfred told her all his secrets. Anyways, Wilfred overhears his parents talking about poor Miss Nancy losing her memory and so he goes on a mission to find her memory.

My kids and I visit the nursing home every other month. I have a few clients there and we like to go and see how every one is and sometimes take them something special. I think it is good for my kids to experience this and the elderly people there absolutely love them. Maybe this is why I am so partial to the book but nevertheless, it deserves an award.

After finishing the book, we hung out and talked about the book. I told Tara that she reminds me of Wilfrid. Just like Wilfrid, Tara has an extra special relationship with Georgie Morgan. I'm not sure how to explain it but it is remarkable. Tara spends time with our elderly neighbor, Georgie, everyday. She talks with her. They read books, eat special treats from Georgie's kitchen, and most of all, Tara puts on little shows for Georgie. And Georgie is soooo proud of Tara. She talks about her all the time and shows such delight when sharing what Tara did with her that day. Georgie calls her own family to talk about what Tara did that day. So this is why Tara reminds me of Wilfrid from the book.

Triston then decided to speak up. He agreed about Tara and Georgie having a similar relationship but then he said, "What about Lorrie?" I looked at him a little confused. Triston says, "Well she is 50, mom."

Ready for the best part?

"You know, that's almost 98" (sorry Lorrie, this was too cute to keep to myself, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are 50, kids can be wrong, he probably doesn't really remember the big deal with your birthday this year, besides 50 is not so bad...but 98, yikes...Triston says your almost there. Shucks, now I've got it posted for the world to see.)
