Triston discovers an "antique"

A couple weekends ago, Triston stayed the night at his Grandma Doris's. They were going thru stuff and found an old house phone. Triston was really intrigued by this phone because it had a "dial" on it. He kept asking Grandma questions about it and Grandma decided to plug it in and let Triston try it. He "dialed" my phone number (smiling the whole time). After he dialed the last number he asked Grandma, "What now? Do I push this button?" The button he is referring to actually hangs up the phone. Anyways, Triston called me on this phone to tell me all about it and how cool it is. I just laughed because we have all had these "dial" phones before and they are really not around anymore because they have lost their coolness. Its funny how kids actually think these things that they have never seen are actually so cool. Here is a picture of the phone.

After hearing about this phone for the last couple weeks, I decided to take my camera over to see what all the rave is about. I then had 2 eager kids on my hands and a willing Grandma to let them play.
So this is how it went...Triston needed to dial a #. So he dialed my cell phone.

My cell phone rang and we all looked at each other like "now what." We told Tara to go answer it. Oh my, she was SO excited.

After Tara answered, Triston hung up on her. And they giggled.

So then they wanted to try it again.

Next...Triston dialed Grandma's cell phone.

After that, Triston called Tara again. Then Tara decided to sing to Triston, over the phone. Triston decided to let Tara listen to herself.

They had so much phone with this phone. Its amazing the stuff we throw out as junk can be the most fun ever for a child.
