First Game of the Season

After several canceled games (due to the snow) we finally attended Cam's first baseball game. This is the JV team for his high school so there are many changes from the year before with the lower level league. Some of these changes include the fact that "no one is guaranteed playing time." Last year and every year since T-ball every player had to be played. Since this is a team with 17 players, we felt lucky that Cameron did get to play. I started out taking pictures but ended up getting too cold and I had to put the camera away. We had winter coats and blankets. My computer tells me that it was 39 degrees out, youch. Besides the cold issues, the sun was blaring and bright. I found myself having to move around to try and avoid it directly. Here are some of my best from tonight. The only position that he played tonight was first base. He actually loves this position. He will also likely do some pitching (when his arm heals) and they have threatened to put him in as catcher but he really doesn't like that and avoids it at all costs. Notice him standing on the base and the ball is about to hit his mitt. He got the runner out in this picture and continued these awesome plays throughout the game.

This next picture is of him getting a high five from his coach after an awesome hit.

Then the coach decides to talk about their next move. After viewing this photo, I felt bad for the other boy who appears to be really disappointed that Cam made it to the base.
The last picture shows Cameron running from 3rd base to home.
So, I guess I should mention that we lost the first game by 4 runs and the second by 5 runs. A little disappointing but we couldn't be prouder of Cameron. He did AWESOME tonight.
