Birthday Girl

Tara had a really fun and busy day. Because of baseball, we didn't schedule a regular birthday party but we invited the grandparents over for cake and ice cream. We struggled getting the cakes made for all of their birthdays and also the 60+ cupcakes to share with their classrooms so Tara asked if she could frost her own cake and we, thankful for the help, agreed.

Another problem, she insisted on the coconut frosting which I only had one of. She ran out of that and mixed in a chocolate frosting. Here's the pic:

Once everyone arrived, we lit her candles and sung "Happy Birthday". She felt a little embarrassed. Can you tell?

She opened up her gifts next. Tara discovered a musical card when it was Lorrie's birthday and has been crazy about them ever since. We have had to buy them for several other birthday friends and now Tara got one for herself.
